The name
Logica
artificialis.
In the late medieval and early modern vocabulary, artificial logic is the opposite of unexamined habit: it is logic written as an art.
Organum rationis, sapphirus mentis.
(The instrument of reason, the sapphire of the mind.)

Naturalis
Logica naturalis named the capacity people already have: to infer, to object, to notice a contradiction without a handbook. It was praised, and it was also distrusted. Natural reasoning is fast, local, and hard to replay.
Artificialis
Logica artificialis named the taught system: terms, figures, rules of consequence, written so that a step could be shown to someone else. The art did not replace judgment. It made judgment inspectable.

What we mean
by it now.
Formalized mathematics asks a proof to survive outside the room where it was understood. A proof assistant is one way to insist on that. An AI system that drafts a proof is another instrument — useful only if something stricter than the draft can say yes or no.
The institute’s name keeps both halves of that demand. Logic, because the subject is consequence, not software fashion. Artificial, because the rules are made explicit enough for a computer, and for a person who was not in the original argument, to follow.
It also leaves room for the wider project of mathematical formalization: not only end-of-proof certificates, but definitions, constructions, libraries, and the slow work of saying what a theorem actually depends on.
Bologna
A city with a long university, and a computer-science tradition in formal methods and interactive proof. The institute would be a neighbour to that work, not a renaming of it.
Europe
Formalization is already a continental conversation — Bonn, Paris, Cambridge, Nijmegen, and many smaller groups. A Bologna address should make visits and shared libraries easier, not invent a centre that ignores them.
The domain
The domain given in the prospectus is logicartificialis.org. The Latin name keeps the “a” of logica; the domain, as registered, does not. Both refer to the same prospectus.
